New Roads & Street Works (C&G 6156)

Under current UK regulations, any person required to carry out any work on the Highway, footways or their curtilage must be trained and assessed as competent and hold a Vocational Qualification in the work they will undertake.

The minimum level of qualification is the City & Guilds New Roads & Street Works (6156) certificate, to either supervisor or operative level. Obtaining it will involve an element of formal training followed by practical exercises and on-site assessment.

Re-Assessment

If you currently hold a Street Works qualification, you will now be required to renew it every 5 years. This is done at our centre using a multiple-choice exam paper. For the next available dates and details of fees, please give us a call.

Venue

At one of our training centres and on site.

Course Length

The qualification is divided into units. You need only obtain the units that are relevant to the work you do, so the course duration will vary. For example, for one unit, such as signing, lighting and guarding, you can expect to spend one day in the classroom and another day being assessed practically.

For a set of six units, which makes up a complete street works qualification, you may need 3,4 or more days. We will discuss exactly what you need when you call.

Course Requirements

We supply all the training materials, but you will need to be able to complete written coursework, and be fit enough to carry out the practical elements of the training. You will also need to supply identification and a passport size photo.
